What Causes Indentation In Iris Of The Eye?

default
Posted on Sat, 21 Jun 2014
Question: I have just noticed an indentation on my daughters eye, on the iris extending to the white. The white of the eye next to where the indentation ends is red, obviously mildly inflamed. She says it is uncomfortable rather than painful, in fact she was not aware of it until I pointed it out. She had a good nights sleep and has not watched a screen excessively.

Brief Answer:
It can be a phlycten or a inflammed pinguecula.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I went through the photo attached with the query, and it seems like a small inflammatory nodule near the limbus.
No need to worry as this does not indicate a serious problem and this will decrease with treatment.

The nodule can be a small phlycten or a inflammed pinguecula. The treatment of the condition is by use of topical anti-inflammatory drugs. Use of artificial tears eye drops provides symptomatic relief.
I usually prefer to treat conditions like this by use of topical anti-inflammatory drugs like fluribrofen three to four times a day.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingily.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
