Question: thanks. I have severe shivering which is very unusual for me. I also have pain in left breast. I took alendronic acid for fisrt time this morning. Blood pressure 156/ 88 but usually 127/81

Thanks for your query.

Sorry for the delay in my response.

Increase in the blood pressure and tremors or chills could be the sign of an impending severe allergic reaction. Please do stop the medication and never take any dose again. The second dose may precipitate a severe allergic reaction.

For now take a dose of Tab Benadryl which can prevent further progress of the problem. Need not worry, the blood pressure and the shivering will surely stop, but the time taken is subjective.

If the condition gets worsened even on taking the Benadryl then you may have to visit the ER.
