Posted on Thu, 24 Aug 2017
Question: Dear doctor, i have been experiencing a discontinous impulsive pain on my left wrist, i get this pain when i make some physical twist of my hand with forearm fixed and only the closed palm rotated. I also get this pain when i try to support a weight on my hand or stretch my index finger like honking during bike riding. Im afraid if i may have ligament tear. Can you please provide your expert advise on this?

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Can be tendonitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The symptoms that you are having are likely to be related to tendonitis. There can be a ganglion also in the tendon sheath. This is an inflammatory problem and rest and hot compress with mild anti inflammatory drugs can help in reducing the problem. Using an elastic wrist brace will also help.
You can confirm the diagnosis using an MRI scan and get stronger prescription medicines prescribed from an orthopedician in case it is persistent.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
