Question: I came down with the flu last Monday and for the most part I feel better but I can't shake the feeling that my head feels heavy and I just want to sleep all the time. Is this normal? Or should I be concerned?

Symptom mentioned be you is very commonly seen with flu.
I would suggest you to do steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil in it, three to four times a day. I would also suggest you to take plenty of water and tablet recofast ( triprolidine 2.5 mg, phenylephrine 5 mg) three times a day for three days, with this measures you will be fine.
