Question: My wife has experienced for the last 3 yrs., extreme and frequent panick, (fear) attacks while in a vehicle, continuous anger management issues which manifest in yelling, screaming and accompanying facial displays of hostility and continually screams out, (just kill me). She also exhibits extreme regret seconds later but within moments, slips back to any one of the above conditions.. she is also exhibiting signs of confusion and memory loss, as though her ability to focus and finish an action has been deminished.
Is this bipolar, dementia or some chemical imbalance in her body??? Help!

Brief Answer:
it is more probably dementia

Detailed Answer:
HELLO,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com.

The available description favors diagnosis of dementia considering her age, confusion and memory loss and abnormal behavior.

Still the duration is important and need to be considered before making a provisional diagnosis.

I hope this answers you.
Thanks and regards.

Ok, now, what do I do? Who should I contact next? Is there a service locally available?
She is (most of the time) willing to get help, at least there's no argument there.

Brief Answer:
You need to contact a geriatric psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Ideally she should have services of geriatric psychiatrist as he the best person to evaluate her further for dementia as well as other mental health issues.

I am not sure whether the services are available in your area but in case it is not available talk to a psychiatrist who have experience of working with geriatric population or persons with dementia. In some countries even Neurologist deal individuals with psychiatrist and can be approached if this is norm in your country.

I hope this assists you further.
Thanks and regards.
