What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Mar 2017
Question: For the past week or so i have been pooping more often. Not quite diarrea but not normal. Some undigested greens and vegetables. Gross. Anyway, i had been taking antibiotics for 2-3 weeks when this began. This morning, i felt the need to go but it was mostly gel looking mucous. A few hours later, i went and it was relatively normal. No pain or blood. Some gurglilng in stomach. It seems like i have some sort of irritation of intestines. Could it be c dif? Ibs? Do i need to go to specialist or is there something i can do to treat on my own?

Brief Answer:
Depleted gut flora due to antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Long term use of antibiotics causes depletion of normal flora of gastro intestinal tract.Gut flora is the complex community of microorganisms that live in the digestive tracts of humans. The intestinal microflora is a complex ecosystem containing over 400 bacterial species The flora is sparse in the stomach and upper intestine, but luxuriant in the lower bowel,Toxins released by antibiotic destroys this flora of gut and lead to various problems with digestive system like indigestion,Gas formation and increased acidity. As of now you can take any over counter Probiotic and Tab Pantoprazole 40 mg this will provide you with symptomatic relief.
