Posted on Wed, 16 Dec 2015
Question: Hi,
Since Sunday I'm experiencing extreme bloating to the extent where breathing is heavier and sort of uncomfortable especially after eating. I have been eating very helpful and nothing seems to be working to resolve the bloatiness. Also I haven't been going to the gym because of this which I do almost everyday. The other feeling I'm having is extreme thirst which I do not understand either as I'm drinking even more water than I usually do. I'm drinking alsmot 2 bottles of 15 L. Also because of being so bloated my food apetite is weird. I'm hungry but I feel like I can't eat because I'm so bloated but in the end I eat more thinking healthy food will solve the bloatiness. Still no change. And one more thing, just want to mention I take ADD medication called concertante. I increased the dose about a month agob I don't know if this could relate but this is the first I experience what I describing. My name is XXXXXXX I'm 19 and I enjoy a healthy diet of no fast food or too many fried things or carbs. However today I ate mainly carbs because my appetite has been weird but this made me feel more bloated Hope this information helps! What di you think is the reason for this discomfort and change in appetite thirst and exteme bloatiness also don't remember if I mentioned fatigue but I'm feeling more tired than my usual self

Brief Answer:
Acid reflux versus Giardiasis

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Your symptoms are suggestive of Acid reflux disease. However, we always consider Giardiasis in cases a person has excessive bloating with loose stools or abnormal stools.
I would advice you to get a Stool routine & microscopy done to rule out any evidence of Giardiasis. If found, you would need a course of Metronidazole for a week.
For Acid reflux and Bloating, my advice is to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone for a few days.
This combination will help you with the acid reflux that causes bloating. Also, a good probiotic containing Lactobacillus also helps.
Yog hurt is a very good natural source of probiotics and helps in settling the stomach issues very well. Papaya cleans the bowels as it acts as a good fiber laxative, so he will have less bloating. Avoid spicy food and stick to soft and bland diet.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
