Brief Answer:
In most of the cases there is nothing to worry but evaluation is needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello

It is a common complaints by mother of infants. In most of the cases even after thorough investigation the cause could not be find out. In that condition it is assumed to be due to immaturity of nervous system.

The excess sweating may be local or generalised. Sweating in head during sleep is normal in infants. But if there is sweating of palms and feet also, it should be evaluated.
The common cause of excess sweating are due to humid and warm temperature of room and overclothing. Please check out these two in your case.

Uncommon causes are hormonal disturbances (like increased thyroid hormone), and congenital heart disease.

There are usually other associated symptoms (like feeding difficulty, respiratory distress, bowel disturbances) except excess sweating in these two condition. But sometimes excess sweating may be the only initial symptoms. So these causes should be ruled out by a proper clinical examination.

Other extremely rare cause of excess sweating is sweat gland abnormality and that can also be excluded by clinical examination.

As you did not mention any other significant symptoms and this is persistent it appears to be immature nervous system and benign in nature. But I would suggest you to rule out other causes by consulting a pediatrician.

I would be glad to answer if you have any further query.

Brief Answer:
Don't worry,It should subside as baby grows

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Sweating in feet only is local hyperhydrosis. As it is local the causes mentioned above are very unlikely. The fetal USG is also normal.
Don't worry,it will subside over a period as baby grows. In few cases it may persist till childhood or adolescence, in that case antiperspirant application may be needed.
I hope this answers your query.

i have one more question

my mother has cold sore or herpes . and she took my baby and kissed her

now my baby has cold and flu

is it dangerous for the baby to contact herpes simplex virus at 6 months?

secondly is cold and flu dangerous for baby?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain (35 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Severity depends on the site of infection,cold/flu can be dangerous

Detailed Answer:
Hello

The chance of getting infected(usually spread by contact of infected saliva) by herpes in such cases is 30%. Once get infected the severity depends on the site of infection. In most of the cases it is orolabial and mild in nature. The infection of brain is uncommon and occurs in immunodeficient. The infection is more severe in case of immunodeficiency.Cold and flu is very unlikely following herpes infection.
This cold and cough is unrelated to herpes infection. Cold and flu is common in this age group and mostly improved by conservative treatment. In some of the cases there may be involvement of lower airway and then it may get severe.
Give her nasal saline drop, antiallergic by consulting your pediatrician.
I would suggest you to be watchful for high grade fever, respiratory distress or decreased oral acceptance. If you notice any of these get her to emergency room.
I hope this answers your query

doctor told me cold and flu is in upper respiratory tract

is it still dangerous?
do i need to be watchful while the baby sleeps for any respiratory distress?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Jain (8 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Sometimes virus move from upper to lower respiratory tract

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Upper respiratory tract infection(URI) is not dangerous and usually subsides within 5-7 days. Most of the URI in this age is viral. Not in all but in few cases the viral move down from upper to lower respiratory tract and can cause symptoms of LRTI(in less than 10% cases) like increased respiratory rate or chest wall retraction.
It is difficult to predict in which baby URI can progress to LRTI. So I tell these signs to all parents who come with a child suffering from URI,so that we can detect it early if any.Being watchful does not mean that you get anxious.
So Don't worry, but be watchful for all these symptoms.
Wish your child good health.
