Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015
Question: Hi

I'm writing from Canada,
How may I stop to spit/spray in people's face when talking to people? It is so embarrassing and its being going on for a year now. This is beginning to take a toll on my professional life. I'm needing a final solution to this condition.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
try chewing gum; more water and trihexphenidyl

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After reading your query I think you have increased saliva production and coz of the same you tend to spit when you talk.

There are some measures apart from medicine to help it.

You can keep chewing gum in your mouth and chew it on and off.
or
You may also try drinking water in sips every 10-15minutes.

Third is medicine- trihexphenidyl 2-4 mg can be taken in morning after breakfast. This may help you a lot.

Please tell the name of the medicine that you had used earlier. If its the same as this one then we need to look further.

Please dont feel so sad. It is no an uncommon problem and is seen in clinical setting on and off.

we will surely find out some measure.

Hope the reply helps

I take lots of water at work. Chewing gum and talking, for me makes its worse as more saliva is produced due to the sugar from the gum.

I previously had had Glycopyrrolate 1mg.

The drug you had recommended i presumed will be prescribed. How do I go about it or is it an over the counter medication?

Brief Answer:
please try it online; start 2mg & can go upto 6mg

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

When we chew gum we tend to swallow saliva more frequently and therefore the spitting reduces ...but if this dosent help you then dont try .

Glycopyrrolate is also one of the medicines used for this problem ..you may try to take 2mg of it...

Trihexphenidyl is a priscription drug but there are different rules for different states..I think you must check it online and you might be able to get it..
it is not a proper medicine and not dangerous; so,it will be worth trying at a chemist shop even.

If you are unable to get it you may ask a GP to write for it.
Start with 2mg after breakfast and you may go upto 4-6mg.

I hope this medicine helps you.
