What Causes Dizziness And Nausea Despite Taking Zofer For Food Poisoning?

Question: Hi,

I am 34 years old and two days back i suffered with severe vomitings and dizziness.
Visited doctor and doctor said it is becz of food poisoning or gas problem as i had food outside last two days.
He gave me zofer injection and antibiotic and from then vomitings stopped but spinning head and vomiting sensation is still there even today.
i feel spinning head when i lie down and that is high when i turn on my right side.
I am not getting the situation. Today also i have the spinning head feeling and vomiting sensation.
doctor gave me medicines only for tow days.
BP was not high when doctor checked. I had it checked at different clinics.
Please help me to understand my situation.
what should i do now? Do i need to go for brain MRI or something like that?

Hello,

Your symptoms of vertigo (spinning of head) and dizziness can be due to a condition called vestibular neuritis or can be a case of BPPV (both are conditions related to inner ear problem). Proper diagnosis can be achieved only after proper physical examination and few investigations.

I would suggest it best for you to consult with an ENT specialist for further management with audiological examination, blood tests and few other investigations if required. Meanwhile, if I were your treating physician, I would advise you to take T. STEMETIL 5mg twice daily for 3-5 days. This should help you with your symptoms of dizziness and vomiting sensation.

Hi Doctor,

thank you for your response.
so is it not related to gas or indigestion?
today i started a light headache on back of skull just above neck.
Can i take the tablet you mentioned , will it have any side effects?
blood tests in the sense liver related or normal CBP kind of?
and the tablet T. STEMETIL is for era related problem?

Hello,

I personally do not think it is related to gastric issues as food poisoning can cause vomiting and dizziness but it would not vary due to the difference in posture while lying down.

Yes you can definitely take Tab. Stemetil without having any side effects. This is for your symptoms like spinning of head and the associated nausea.

Your treating physician can ask for blood tests like normal CBC to rule out anemia, blood sugar and the associated parameters.
