What Causes Dizziness And Cold Sweats After Vasectomy?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Dec 2014
Question: I just had a vasectomy today and during the surgery I start to get faint, cold sweats, to the point where I was given smelling salts to hold onto. Got home laid in bed with ice for 4 hours, took a Vicodin - tried to get out of bed go downstairs after four hours. Suddenly got very dizzy, cold sweats again, thought I might faint. (Almost identical to experience during surgery) Got back in bed and the spell passed after about 5-10mins. Normal reaction?

Brief Answer:
Probably it was due to vagal shock

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that both time you got vagal shock. It probably was due to pain. In vagal shock BP suddenly decreases temporarily. It occurs in some persons as a reaction of pain. To prevent it take analgesics( pain medicines ) such as Vicodin regularly as you are taking it. Avoid movements to reduce pain. Take rest and good nutrition.

If it occurs again immediately lie down. Your head should be down and feet elevated on pillow so that blood circulation goes to brain and you recovers early.

You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.
Take care.
