What Causes Discomfort In Head, Weakness In Hands And Feet Along With Numbness?

default

Question: Things do not feel good. I feel like I am losing my mind. My head feels like it’s being squeezed. I feel like my hands and feet are weak and out of my control. Sometimes my pinkies feel like they are on their own and rest on my ring finger. It’s like a tingling in my hands and feet. There is sort of a numbness to my body, not so much numb, rather than very, very weak. More so my left than my right. I am dizzy and lightheaded often, my ears feel so clogged. I’ve had a CTA and CAT scan when I went to the hospital with a very sore neck, which determined I had a back muscle spasm and cervical strain. I suffer from anxiety. I’m so scared that I am schizophrenic, although my counselor told me I don’t show the signs and schizophrenia rarely show at my age (27) and I would have known by now. I just want to feel better, I can’t stand this feeling. I feel so out of control. My body is like very fatigue and the pain in my head goes from the back to my head to the sides. It’s all the time. Also, not sure this matters, but last I went to the doctor, I had high blood pressure, I believe 140/70 (the doctor didn't seem concerned at all). Also, I'm not sure this means anything, but I went to the dentist today and my gum on the upper right is irritated, not sure why as the dentist doesn't think it is on the nerve so I am seeing another doctor for that on Friday (again, not sure that matters but I thought I would throw that in there).

Is this all in my head? That worries me even more.

Brief Answer:
Your condition is treatable.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back to HCM.

I had gone through your query and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, yours is not the case of schizophrenia, more probably you are suffering from a condition in wich you manifest psychological stress in physical ways (conversion disorder).

You are experiencing neurologic symptoms, when there is no evidence of neurologic damage, this assessed by clinical evaluation and imaging tests.

You shouldn't worry about blood pressure, it is okay, and gum irritated is not related to any neurologic conditions.

This condition is treatable, so don't worry about schizophrenia, or any other serious psychiatric disease.

In my opinion, you need to discuss with a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist your concerns, since other neurologic causes of your symptoms are excluded by your Doctor.

Possible treatment ways about your problems include counseling, physical therapy and antianxiety drugs.

So, don't let yourself in this condition, get help by consulting a Psychologist or a Psychiatrist.

Hope I helped you. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Take care.
