What Causes Circle Around The Insect Bite In The Upper Arm?

default
Posted on Sat, 22 Aug 2015
Question: yes. my boyfriend got bit by something and for the first few days there was a circle around the bite (upper arm). the circle kept on growing. the first doctor told him it might be lyme disease. but there was no tick on the skin. Or cellulitis. The area is warmer to the touch than rest of the body. And despite of being on antibiotics, the circle continues to grow, taking now almost half of his upper arm.

Brief Answer:
Early Localized Lyme disease.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Consult his physician for a prescription of Cefuroxime in place of Doxycycline if you feel that Doxycycline isn't working good for him.

He is having Early Localized Lyme disease, and the change in skin temperature is actually due to cellulitis and We can clearly see the Erythema Migrans Rash that is typical to the lyme.

He will get gradually better. If you feel he is having some joint, muscles, neurological manifestations (usually happens to appear after 30 days of appearance of rash, if not controlled) you should seek medical attention.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns. I will be happy to get back to you shortly. If satisfied here, please give a five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.

Regards!
