Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: I have crusty mucous in my eyes in the morning when I wake and chronic sore throat. No bumps or puss pockets. Just red veins here and there. Saw an ENT, but no signs of anything. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Suggestions and put eye drops

Detailed Answer:
HI, XXXX,
Read your problem in detail.

It seems that there might be having some irritation in eyes due to dust, constant eye work, eye strain leading to collection of some sticky material in eyes might be giving this problem in the morning.

Having red veins seen in the sclera might be due to irritation.

Nothing to worry. Clean the eyes with plane water with removal of crusty mucous.

Put Refresh eye drops or antibiotic eye drops 3-4 times a day for few days and you will be relieved of this problem. Discuss about this with your doctor.
Wear sun glasses goggles while going outside.
Do warm salt water gargles for having sore throat.
Before going to bed, clean your eyes with plane water.
I think, I answered your query to your satisfaction.
If you have further query or any clarification, please feel free to ask me.

Take care.

My voice is very hoarse and has been sore and hurting for about two weeks now. I have been using a humidifier as well, but not much help. Any more suggestions for clearing sore throats? Or for preventing them in the future? I've had strep throat four times this year. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
might be having septic foci in tonsils or acid peptic problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking about your problem.

As you had recurrent strep. infection, it indicates that you are having recurrent tonsillitis, having chronic foci of infection in your tonsils.

In such case tonsillectomy will be advisable.

Having hoarseness of voice might be due to recurrent infection or this might be due to Acid peptic disease or hyper acidity.

You might require voice therapy.

For this problem you can again consult ENT specialist.

Avoid smoking if you are smoking.
Avoid cold drinks, fried, chillies and junk food.
Do regular antiseptic gargles daily.

I think I answered your query.
If you do not have further clarification, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
I wish you speedy recovery.
