What Causes Brain Fog When Under Stress?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jun 2016
Question: Over the last 5 or 6 months I have been having episodes of what I call "shut down" when under stress. I lose my ability to think or connect to the outside world. I literally stop functioning. It lasts a few hours, but the overall affects takes me days to weeks to return to normal. The last episode was two weeks ago. I am not getting better. Yesterday, I couldn't go to work. I felt so physically bad. My heart felt weird (no pain or palpitations) and I was short of bread. I had fatigue, headache and was unable to eat. The emotional factors that trigger this have been my realization and acceptance of the fact that I am being emotionally abused in my marriage. I have been married for 38 years, and it has been miserable. I kept trying to change hoping that it would get better. My husband is facing retirement, and the fact that he will be home 24/7 is overwhelming to me. I recently started seeing a counselor. But I can not live this way--the physical toll is causing me not to be able to do anything.

Brief Answer:
Transitory life stage associated with anxiety - following treatment options

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

If I was your caring doctor, taking into account your actual health problems, I'd propose 2 main treatment options at this point of your life:

1. Psychological support-psychotherapy appointments will help you dominate stress

2. Other types of support-anti-stress/anxiety medications apart savella, especially when it comes to herbal remedies like valerianna, aloe vera or chamomile. My patients have found their use very effective in dominating anxiety.
Breathing fresh air and keeping in touch with your relatives will help ease stress and anxiety.

As long as both of you are still active and are not suffering of any serious disease, everything else can be perfectly manage, but requires determination and patience.

All the best and God bless to both of you my dear!
