What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Nov 2015
Question: Dr. XXXX,

In the past two days I have seen urine that is "darker" than normal . Not cloudy and has no smell.

Today I noticed a clot of blood passed in my urine. No pain or burning or discomfort.

I have not suffered any recent traumatic injury to my genetials or had unprotected sex.

The only drugs I take are simvistatin and androgel.

What is causing this symptom ? And should I be concerned ?

What Should I do next?

Need to investigate the cause of blood in urine .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that Today you have passed blood clot in urine .

Though you do not have any alarming urinary symptoms the cause and source of blood in urine needs to be investigated .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
