What Causes Blood In Semen Post Prostate Biopsy?

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Aug 2015
Question: I have continued blood in my semen after a prostate biopsy and MRI last November which proved to be benign. I live alone and masturbate 3 to 4 times a week, often without ejaculating. Will a period of abstinence naturally clear this up? I am monitoring my PSA levels and very recently (just this month) registered at 4.3 so no further action was needed. The only variable for these symptoms (blood in the semen) is the biopsy. Prior to that I had never had these symptoms. By the way, the blood only presents itself on ejaculation. Initial, testicular secretions are clear. The blood is a darkish hue after a day or two of masturbating without ejaculation. How can I clear these symptoms, perhaps correcting my behaviour accordingly?

Brief Answer:
I suggest you avoid masturbating for about a week and let’s observe!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood in your semen that you have reported. This blood is caused by bleeding from the prostate. This may suggest that the biopsy side still bleeds form time to time. When you see a black clot, this is clot from the side that has been taken off during the ejaculation.

My advice is that you abstain from masturbation for about 1week. This way we will see what is happening after a week. This may be sufficient time for healing and no more bleeding with any muscle contractions.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you. I will follow your advice and then experiment to see what happens. Maybe two weeks rather than one.
