default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: I used shower to shower powder for years. In the past year I have been feeling feeling bloated and full all the time. I sometimes have problems emptying my bladder. I feel the need to urinate but only pee a little. What type of screening can I have to see if I have ovarian cancer?

Brief Answer:
A possible UTI and get a usg done

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
The concern with emptying of bladder with urgency and hesitancy indicates a possibility of urinary tract infection which needs to be ruled out first with a urine culture test. Secondly, for ruling out any adnexal mass or ovarian mass, the first and foremost investigation remains an ultrasound pelvis and then if any indication or mass evident then tumour markers specific for ovarian cancer like CEA, CA 125, AFP, BETA HCG and CA 19.9 can be undertaken which along with ultrasound findings shall be adequate to rule out any ovarian cancer if at all.
