Posted on Fri, 10 Jun 2016
Question: My wife is feeling very antsy, can't sleep and her blood pressure is 182 over 106. She has Parkinson's disease and had deep brain stimulation surgery in October. She is taking Rytary, Amantadine, Escitalopram and Mirtazapine. This is not the first episode but has been the worst. What might be causing this?

Brief Answer:
Possibly due to high blood pressure.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I have got through your concerns and I shall try to address them at my best.Antsy feelings, in presence of such high blood pressure(182/106) may be directly related as a manifestation of high blood pressure. So,first thing to do should be to control her blood pressure and observe if symptoms improve or not.

Further,about this episode-
1)Since when she is having this episode of antsy feelings?
2)Since when her BP is recording so high?
3)Is there any recent change in medication, which can be related to this episode?
4)As it has happened in the past also,do you know of any possible factors, which might be associated with it?

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up with further details so that I can answer this well further.

Regards

This has been going on all night. She has not slept and it is now 5:53 AM. We took her blood pressure for the first time over 2 hours ago and it has been consistently high. Currently it is 165 over 93. She is also having to urinate frequently. She has had this feeling before on occasion but never as bad. The only recent change in medication is she has been taking Oxycodone Acetamin Ophen D-325 for pain in knees as needed for the last couple of weeks. She is also under some stress as she recently accidentally caused some significant water damage to our home and the house is a mess and we face the prospect of having to move out temporarily while the damage is repaired. It is the second time in less than 2 years that she has done the same thing.

Brief Answer:
BP control/stress management.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

So,medications don't seem to be causing any problem over here instead,we have two obviously important factors which can cause such antsy feelings very commonly-high blood pressure and stress.

For now,you should aim at managing these both and I'm sure she will be all fine.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
