What Causes Acute Back Pain With Vomiting While Having Kidney Stones?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jun 2016
Question: I called 911 because I was throwing up and in acute pain. I was unable to urinate because my kidneys were blocked with stones. After determining the problem I was refused pain medicine to address the pain. I was screaming in pain. Wasn't it not the obligation of the doctors in the E. R. once they determined the origin of the pain to administer pain medicated to relieve the acute pain. None was giving to me. Because I was flaring with pain they bruised my body all over indicating the force they used to hook me up to life support. I believed the first step is to relieve the patient of acute pain. Am I wrong. ?

After 10 days in the hospital (6 on life support), my muscles had atrophied. I could not walk. Without trying to build me up they released me from the hospital. I was wobbling and since returning home fell because my legs could not hold me up. My throat was raw from being incubated. Just the XXXXXXX running down my throat forced me to chock and cough I could not swallow. I am still too week to ambulate on my own without assistance.

Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
To recapitulate: Female/67 - called 911 - acute pain with vomiting - unable to urinate - urinary stones - refused pain medicine after determining the cause - bruised body all over - wants to know ...

I am so sorry if this has happened to you.
Yes, this is very standard protocol to give medications, first to relieve the pain. If the patient is not comfortable, it is also not possible to undergo some of the tests like ultrasonography and CT scan.
Once the cause of the pain is found, pain medications should be given in the dosages as to relieve the pain as much as possible.
Although there are some cases where the control of pain is always a problem for us.
For example:
The pains of impacted stone in the ureter
Tooth ache due to infection
Some fractures
