Question: I Went to my doctor with abdominal cramps and every sign of a bladder infection. They saw blood and bacteria in my urine and put me on the antibiotic that has worked in the past for me. Now I received a call the culture was negative. The antibiotics are working but I am not 100%. They seemed surprised that I was feeling better and told me to follow up

Brief Answer:
Complete the course / plenty of oral fluids....

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

I have read the history and understood the problems.

Since the bacteria and blood was detected in urine and you are already under the proper antibiotic cover, please continue on with the same antibiotic for a complete course of 2 to 3 weeks.

Negative culture is not a hindrance till you are getting a result, a clinical improvement. Nothing to worry and think much about the results of culture.
It may be negative as we see in many cases in spite of infection seen on microscopy.
Another possibility is that, the results may come negative if you have taken even a single dose of antibiotic before giving the sample for culture and sensitivity.

Please continue the medicines as before and complete the stipulated dose as ordered by your Doctor and complete the course.
Take plenty of oral fluids.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen particularly for the genito-urinary system should be done if not yet done .

I hope this answer helps you.
