What Causes A Raised Dark Brown Bump On The Labia?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jun 2017
Question: Hello, I had a genital warts outbreak last year, and they were single, flesh colored bumps. I have just noticed a raised bump on my labia, but this is dark brown in color. Would genital warts change color on the same person?

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload image

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am dr. kakkar (dermatologist and venereologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Warts can be skin colored or they can be hyperpigmented i.e darker. The color can vary in the same person depending on whether they are on skin or mucosa and whether they are on an occluded surface like groin folds or are exposed. I request you to kindly upload an image so that I am able to guide you better. You may upload images in "Reports Section".

These are in the same general area as the warts were, so that wouldn't seem to explain the change in color - the same position on the labia. And they are a bit sensitive to the touch, but not very painful...

Brief Answer:
A better image would be more helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thank you.

These images dont show the lesions very clearly and it is a bit blurred when I try to zoom the lesion. You may upload a better quality image which is sharply in focus at the site of this lesion.
However, on first look this does not seem like a wart. It could be angiokeratoma.

I'm not sure if these are any better...they are smooth, not rough on the surface, and one is flat, the other a raised bump.

Brief Answer:
Electrofulguration or radiofrequency cautery

Detailed Answer:
Thank you. They dont look like warts. They seem more like angiokeratomas.
I would suggest removal with electrocautery or radiofrequency cautery.
