What Causes A Lump In The Breast?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Nov 2016
Question: Dear Sirs,
Several days ago, my mother noticed some sort of tumor in her breast. The tumor was diagnosed as unidentified whether it is a cancer or other tumor. We got two opinions on that; The first Says to take a biopsy, and the second says to remove all the tumor by surgery.
The first argues that if the biopsy result shows that it is not a cancer, then there is no need to go for the surgery, especially that the patient is taking anticoagulant constantly.
The second opinion argues that the tumor seems to include something suspicious inside of it, and if that was cancer, then taking a biopsy may help spreading it to other parts of the body.

I attached the images , and would highly appreciate your consultation on that.

Thank you for your assistance, and please let me know if any sort of payment is required.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Biopsy has to be done first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. The diagnosis of cancer can be established only by a biopsy. There is no such evidence that a cancer spread to other parts by a biopsy of breast lump. It is mandatory to establish the diagnosis by biopsy prior operating. So go for the biopsy first.
Thanks and regards

Dear Dr. Sundriyal,
Thank you for your reply. We shall go for a biopsy then.

Just one more question please: From what you see in the images, is the tumor in its early stages or is it in a late stage?

I have uploaded some more images.

Thank you again.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Stage cannot be determined by USG or mammogram

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear.

Stage in a case of breast cancer can only be determined by either a clinical examination or by performing a CT scan of chest, abdomen plus a bone scan. I can only tell you that, on clinical examination, if the tumor is only in the breast then its an early stage.

Thanks and regards
