What Causes A Hard Lump On The Right Breast?
Question: Just had a biopsy on outside rt breast after hard 1 cm lump detected. Apparently techs could not agree on diagnosis because it is being sent to Mayo Clinic for analysis. What should I be concerned about? Why could diagnosis not be made? What are possibilities?

As it is a hard lump, possibility of breast cancer is there. But at the same time, pain is unusual for a small cancer. So possibility of benign lesion like fibroadenosis or fat necrosis also there.
Pathology is not a black and white science always and it may be difficult to diagnose borderline or atypical lesions. This is probably a very difficult one hence they need expert opinion. It may take some more time but always better to be sure.
I would advise you not to worry too much and wait for the final report. It is not necessarily cancer unless reported as such. Even if it is, a 1 cm cancer is usually cured.
