Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Female/78 - noticed protruding - bulbous looking - at opening of anus - sort of reddish - no blood - no pain - not visited a Doctor ...

Since there is no pain, no bleeding and the thing is reddish the possibilities are:
- Prolapsed piles: can be present without any symptoms and appear the same way as you have described. This will be soft and compressible and/or reducible. Not tender at all.
- Polyp : hard and non-tender
- Mucosal prolapse: appears reddish, non-tender, can be pushed back and will pop out on straining.

I would advise you to get a per-rectal examination, ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy to get a confirmed diagnosis to have a proper plan.
Till then, have the following things:
Sitz bath in a tub with warm water.
Mild laxative if constipation is present
Have normal diet, please do not change the diet at all - continue taking the foods and beverages that suit you the most.

I hope, this answer helps you in getting an early and proper diagnosis as well as proper plan of management. Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
