What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Cipralex?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Apr 2015
Question: Hello, I was prescribed Cipralex for anxiety. I took 5mg for 2 weeks then increased to 10mg. I noticed that the anxiety became worse, and asked my doctor if I could stop taking it, as I felt better without any medication than with the medication. She had me decrease from 10mg to 5mg for one week then stop. I was on it for a total of 10weeks. After I stopped I noticed that I am very dizzy, and light headed feeling but no anxiety (I feel in control of this now). It has now been 3 days since I stopped and although this symptom is not unmanageable it is annoying me, I just want an idea of when to expect this to subside. Is there roughly any guideline?

Brief Answer:
The symptoms will decrease in a week

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

Cipralax is Escitalopram and the drug is a good anti anxiety drug. When the drug is stopped after taking regularly even for a month it may result in withdrawal symptoms. Mild restlessness, anxiety, nausea, dizziness can occur after stopping the drug. In most cases the symptoms reduce in about a week. So as per my opinion there is no need to worry, the symptoms would decrease in a week. For mild lightheadedness or dizziness drugs like low dose benzodiazepines as clonazepam can be used. Consult your doctor for prescription of the drug.

Hope this helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again
