HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Acute sore throat is usually due to viral or bacterial infection (strep throat).

Strep throat is usually associated with a prolonged high fever thought this can sometimes vary.

The naproxen would help because of its anti inflammatory effect, it would reduce the inflammation in the throat.
You may want to add topical agents such as covonia gargle, chloroseptic or diflam- these contain anti septic along with pain medication.

You may also need a course of antibiotics as well from your doctor since the pain is not improving after at least 5 days. In viral sore throat, there is usually some improvement by this time

Summary: (1) maybe bacterial requiring sore throat since persisting for so long with no improvement
(2)consider the use of topical agents such as chloroseptic or covonia or diflam
(3)continue anti inflammatory

I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
