Brief Answer:
Don't stop Suboxone; Talk with your doctor and make a plan together.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Thank you for posting your query to HCM.

From what I am understanding looks like you have had problems with opiates before, and now you are taking Soboxone to treat the addiction to opiates?

If that is the case, then Suboxone is the right treatment. And yes, its sounds silly, but it also created addiction in itself.

It is a very delicate medicine, that needs close medical follow-up. So yes, I definitely would recommend to return to your doctor and discuss with him how is his plan of treating you continue. Suboxone should not be taken more then prescribed, should be taken like it is prescribed, and also do not stop using it suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Going to do the action plan with your doctor is the best decision, since he knows your case, and the plan he did when he decided to recommend that medicine.

Hope I answered your question. Let me know if you have further questions.

Take care.
Dr. Papaqako.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again XXXX,

Taking medication for opioid addiction is not the same as substituting one addictive drug for another. It is used to treat from opioid addiction.
If you stop it suddenly, you may start again with your problem with the opioid. The so called addiction from Suboxone, is more from the fact that you may have the symptoms of withdrawal from the previous opioid addiction. So if you remove it at the needed time, and if you make a tapering time with your doctor, it won't be much of a problem. The biggest problem will be if you remove it before the time.
It is not recommended to withdraw from Suboxone until you have your addiction under control and have a stress-free environment.

My advise will be the same- meet to your doctor to discuss with him the plan.

Hope I answered your question.
Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Takce care.
