Question: Hi, My husband 42,has been on clopixol injection upper arm(R) for more than 10 years rececently reduceded to 350mlg yesterday Dr has suggested to us that he would like to try Husband on Abilify(ARIPIPRAZOLE). I would prefer clopixol tablets concidering side affects of ABILIFY, to much of risk.

I can understand your concern. Clopixol is Zuclepentixole and the drug belongs to first generation anti psychotic drugs. Aripiprazole is also an anti psychotic drug and belongs to second generation anti psychotics. If we consider safety profile then Aripiprazole is far safer as compared to Clopixol. The drug is free of extra pyramidal side effects seen with Clopixol. Aripiprazole is also safer in metabolic side effects. It's efficacy is also comparable to Clopixol.

So if his psychiatrist wants to change the drug then as per my opinion you should go with this drugs.
