What Are The Risks Of Contraction Through Oral Sex With A Man Positive For HSV-2?

default

Question: I was recently exposed a week ago to a man that tested positive for HSV 2. We did not have penetration intercourse, but there was genital to genital contact and he did preform oral sex and fingering. So far I have noticed only slight itching / tingling and increased discharge that is yellow. I have felt tired, and have had a fever ranging around 99 in the past few days. I visited a clinic which gave me an igm test which I have heard doesn’t really indicate anything and when they looked at my discharge they said it had yeast in it and gave me a prescription for that which hasn’t really done anything.

I haven’t really noticed any bumps, but have what look like they could be although I did shave completely right before the exposure so this could be from hair growing back. I also haven’t had any pain while urinating.

He shared his results from the day after when he tested which his igG was at 4.35 when above 1.10 indicated positive. I’m not sure if this information helps.

What is the likelihood that I am now infected?

I have attached a photo of current potential bumps.

Brief Answer:
Chances of infection are low.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The raised levels of IgG indicate an old infection. The chances of transmission of infection are lower when there are no active lesions present but cannot be entirely ruled out. The yellowish discharge that you have can be due to a mixed bacterial infection also. Proper antibiotics will help in improvement.
A blood test is the only way to know if you are infected or not. There is no image attached to this query. You can upload the image for a better evaluation.
I hope this answers your query.

Apologies, it has been attached now. I’m still experiencing itching and burning sensation and pressure in my pelvis. I’ve only taken one yeast pill and take the next tomorrow but haven’t noticed any change in symptoms or discharge. Very worried.

Brief Answer:
Bumps not related to HSV infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
I have seen the attached image. The bumps are not related to HSV infection. The persistent discharge and burning sensation can be due to bacterial infection. Antibiotics like metronidazole and a mild pain killer can help in relieving the symptoms.
Hope my answer is helpful.
