default
Posted on Wed, 20 Aug 2014
Question: Hi. I got really drunk which is irrelavent....but I met some guy, just walking in my area and I remember bits of it, but... I remember sitting outside on his steps chatting and there was some jesus guy....anyyyyway, I went up to his apartment to use the bathroom (dumb!) and well I ended up ...well I guess he....this is gross...but I guess he stuck his finger up me and also I received oral sex. he was a dirty old man, probably 50 years....maybe 40 years older than me. I guess I just wanted to know what the risk of getting an STI is. I have never done that before, and I mean, I sort of knew what I was doing....but not really....he didn't force anything....Idk.....I texted him today, because I don't know when I gave him my number but he called....I asked him if he had any std's, he said no....and assured me (like that means anything). I went to the obgyn today (this happened sunday night), and I got tested for STD's..... Is there anything I can do to prevent something? This is dumb....but, I am just scared

Brief Answer:
Risk of STD is low though not completely ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Ideal first step would be check out whether this guy was tested for STDs recently. Also if possible check about his recent and past sex life.

With oral sex if there are no oral or genital abrasions chances of STDs significantly drop done.

Get screening done for common STD like chlamydia, gonorrhea ,trichomoniasis, syphilis, herpes, hepatitis B and HIV need to be excluded. However few STDs may take sometime to show up on lab test.

Usually in such cases most major concern is about HIV.It is important to know, however, that it may take up to six months after exposure to the HIV virus before you will test positive on an HIV antibody test. Most infected people will test positive within 3 months.

Also check if you have got any genital abrasion, if not then possibility of HIV and hepatitis go down significantly.

I would like to highlight that such sexual encounters short of actual sexual intercourse have significantly lower chances of STd transmission but precautionary screening needs to be undertaken.

Please ask if you want me to explain anything.
Regards.
