Suggest Ways To Manage High Blood Glucose Levels When On Insulin
Question: after solvation of heart pumping problem of my grand father he is suffering from sugar with the influence of heart pumping problem...with the suggesion of doctor he is taking the insulin of 12 units in the morning , 12 units at afternoon and 6 units at night but still he is having 300-400(according to diabetic machine) can you please suggest us how to control this problem and also can you please give the information regarding diet... !!

Dear sir, greetings. I have read your query . your grand father needs to be evaluated further.
He needs HbA1c, microalbuminuria. Lipid profile, thyroid hormone levels, fasting and post prondial glucose is a good lab.
Further he might need higher dose of insulin (5 units in the morning and 2 units in the night) with insulin sensitizers, like gliptins. please get the investigations and later we can adjust the dose.
we cannot relay too much on the glcometric values please see that the machine is calibrated properly
You give him very less of carbohydrate diet. Give more of proteins. Avoid oily, fried and fast food. Give him more of green leafy vegetables. Sprouts, millets , oats.
Always boiled good is better . adding tamarind, garlic, turmeric , to boiled vegetables , soups, is good.
After getting all the latest investigation please get back and I will suggest a plan based on the results.
Further cardiologist opinion has yo be taken may be he needs echo cardiogram .
