Suggest Ways To Increase Chances Of Conception

Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: Hello Doctor, I am 33 yrs old female. I am trying to conceive for last 5 months. I am not sure am I missing intercourse on appropriate time or what is the reason. I had conceived successfully 1 year ago but due to abnormality in foetus i had to drop it in 3rd month. I also tried to track ovulation. It occurs at 18th day approximately. And my Ms cycle is 32 days for last five months. I can see two three problems in all this though I am not sure these are the valid reasons or not.
1. We could not do intercourse every alternate in busy lives.
2. Once we do intercourse I try to lie down after it for 15-20 mins. But whenever I wake up either at night or morning i see too much of white discharge flowing, is it all the sperms getting out of me?
3. Last month we did it on the day of ovulation. But not after it ie not after 24 hrs of ovulation. So I think sperms are not alive for more hours. Is there any medicine my husband should take for better erection and good sperm count?
I am already taking ovacare as prescribed since three months. Please suggest some good practices to follow for early conception.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Alternate day intercourse is advisable in the fertile period, I.e. from day 10 to day 24 in your case, is advisable to increase the chances of conception.
Sperms are alive for 5-6 days in the genital tract, so intercourse from 5 days before the ovulation day to one day after can result in pregnancy.
All the semen do not enters the uterus, rather sperms go inside, and rest of the semen comes out of the vagina.
So, there is nothing to worry on these aspects.
You should stop taking stress, as stress also reduces the chances of conception.
Sperm motility and quality can be increased by medicines containing Co- Q forte, given to your husband.
You can take ovulation induction drugs, if you fail to conceive naturally in 6 months.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
