Question: I have developed peri orbital dermatitis. I initially thought it was related to post cataract surgery care since it was worse under eye where I'd hold skin down to apply drops. ?? Now it's around nose & mouth as well. The itch drives me crazy. My pcp had me take antibiotics along with topical ointment which worked well but returned after done with antibiotics. I also have had MRSR in the past. I look exactly like photos in all articles I've read. Prognosis?? I've also had Lyme disease in the past. Any connection?? Is there a way to improve immune system so it won't keep recurring?? Thank you

Brief Answer:
Treatment and prognosis will depend upon the underlying cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks Doctor for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details provided and understand your concerns. Your description seems consistent with Nikolsky sign, a skin finding in which the top layers of the skin slip away from the lower layers by a shearing force when slightly rubbed. It occurs in certain conditions like Autoimmune condition like pemphigus vulgaris, or certain bacterial infections like scalded skin syndrome. The treatment and prognosis will depend upon the actual cause which can only be found out after a proper clinical examination. I would suggest you to visit a dermatologist for the same.

Your having MRSR in the past could have a correlation but Lyme disease does not seem related.
