Question: As you answered to my previous question to gradually decrease the dosage of effexor, I am doing the same. But I have severe headache headspinning stomach pain , fainting sensation. In 30 days I have reduced 25 mg of effexor. Presently I'm at 87.5 mg..maybe it will take time to get adjusted to the lower dosage. ..or should I contact any doctor. Would tranxene help

Brief Answer:
Yes the drug should help

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking again, please excuse me for late reply.

Mild headache, giddiness, gastric upset etc could occur even with proper gradual dose tapering but as you have reduced just 25 mg of doses in last 4 weeks and have severe headaches then in such case there is need to take some drug to ease withdrawal.

Tranxene is a benzodiazepine and this should help in reducing the severity of symptoms. Though I haven't used that drug but I prescribe other drugs like Clonazepam or Alprazolam to my patients in withdrawal. These drugs are similar to Tranxene and help to reduce the rebound restlessness and other withdrawal symptoms caused due to dose reduction.

You can take low dose of Tranxene and for spinning sensation in head drugs like Betahistine can help. These will reduce the symptoms and your body will adjust to reduced doses of Venlafaxine. Keep yourself strong and you will surely come out of the drug. The severity of symptoms will reduce in some days and you will feel better.

Thanks, Hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.
