Suggest Treatment For White Spot On Roof Of Mouth

default
Posted on Sat, 2 Jan 2016
Question: A week ago this past saturday, i went to the ER because i had a white spot on the roof of my mouth. They treated me for thrush. It didn't go away. On that following monday my mouth looked like the picture below where it looks scabby. My doctor took bloodwork and everything was normal. I was on cipro for a uti at the time, and i had taken it for 5 days. Doctor told me that monday to stop taking it and then prescribed me magic mouthwash. I only used it 3 times. Ever since then it's been looking better, but today my mouth looks like the second picture. The front part of the roof of my mouth feels kind of like sandpaper. The sore strip isn't killing me like it was, so i believe it's getting better, but it's been a week since i saw my doctor. Should i be concerned that it's still there? I was told that it could've just been an allergic reaction to cipro. However, im not sure what to do or to think.

Brief Answer:
No worries, self resolving

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. FIrst of all let me reassure you that oral hygiene maintenance is all you need and there is nothing to worry about. Your symptoms are already improving and you need to continue the mouth wash and wait and see. The sandpaper like feeling will go as well, it happens with the use of cipro. Good thing is your blood work up is normal. So all you need is wait and see, continue the mouthwash, add salt water gargles, garlic water mouth rinses to it, thrice brushing of teeth post prandially and regular flossing etc.

Some times it takes more than a week to resolve but it is self resolving and needs no intervention. All you have to do is wait and see. I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
