Brief Answer:
Get a Doppler done and consult a Vascular Surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX
Thank you for your question.

I would like to know how you know that you have varicose veins.

Varicose veins are a common problem.
Firstly you should get a Color Doppler of the veins of the involved limb done. This is done by a Radiologist and is painless like an Ultrasound. Then you should see a Surgeon preferably a Vascular Surgeon who can help you with the treatment.
Treatment can be done firstly by Compression stockings which you will have to wear while standing and walking. If you dont get relief with that then there are various options.
The least invasive would be to put small injections on the projecting veins which we call Injection sclerotherapy. Then there is Laser ablation of veins which can be done under local anaesthesia or Spinal anaestheisa with a small injection in the back to make the lower limbs numb. And finally there is the open surgery which can also be done under Spinal anaestheisa.
So, get the Doppler done and discuss with a Vascular Surgeon as to what be best treatment for you depending upon your complaints.
Do let me know if I can help you with any other queries. I would be more than happy to answer.
Take care,
Dr Rishi, New XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
