Brief Answer:
Respond to steroids and bronchodilators

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have carefully read your query and understand your concern.

Your boyfriend might have suffered acute severe asthmatic attack due to sudden exposure to cold air.

Asthmatics are more prone to have sore throat due to common allergic pathology involved.

The basic treatment would be inhaled bronchodilators like salbutamol followed by inhaled long acting steroids like budesonide or fluticasone.

This therapy would cause rapid reversal of bronchoconstriction with reduced airway inflammation causing prompt and sustained relief of symptoms.

Note-these drugs should be taken under strict medical supervision.

Avoid exposure to precipitating factors like cold, weather change ,hypoxia/high altitude and dust.

I hope this info is helpful to you,
Thank you
