Suggest Treatment For Small Painful Lump In The Lower Part Of The Head

Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I have a hard, golf ball size lump that I just noticed on the back, lower left side of my head. I noticed it 2 days ago when washing my hair and it is very painful to touch. I have also started blood pressure medicine about 5 weeks ago and tonight my BP is 183/105. I am not sure if one is related to the other or not.

Brief Answer:
It could be an Infected sebaceous cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks like an Infected Sebaceous cyst. It has no relation to Blood pressure or its medicines.
Usally, I give Antibiotic along with anti inflammatory tablet to my patients initially.Later,I plan for removal of the swelling. But,if the pus is found initially,i will do incision and drainage.
Please consult your surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
