Posted on Wed, 8 Feb 2017
Question: My 2 yr 3 months old daughter vomited after her daily breakfast / cow milk which was smelling a bit. Later after her regular lunch having boiled Daliya and few pieces of white portion of boiled eggs she vomited once again what she has eaten, but this time there was no smell.
Please suggest kind of food she should be given and any medicine if required.

Brief Answer:
ORS is the mainstay of treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. She could have got a stomach upset due to contaminated milk. However, the mainstay of treatment would be ORS (oral rehydration solution). Give it to her in small amounts sip by sip. You can give some antiemetic like ondansetron when required but other than that no medicines are required. I would insist you to wait and watch. Hold feeds till she again feels hungry (a meal may be skipped if necessary). Thereafter you can give normal diet (whatever she regularly eats) but preferably low on oil and spices. I would discourage giving milk as of now although curd can be given.

Hopefully that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.
