default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: I'll go back a couple of weeks. It started out with a sore throat and a cough. Then it went away only to be replaced by a urinary tract inf. I went to urgent care. Got antibiotics , took all, but it was still there. So went back. Dr prescribed cipro which got rid of it, but now i'm back to an irritated inner, ear swelling down that side of my throat, coughing and getting up green mucous, but mostly a clear mucous. Its not a sinus infection.

Brief Answer:
More likely to be upper respiratory tract infection, symptomatic treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Based on the information, it appears that you are having upper respiratory tract infection, most of the time it is caused by viruses and requires only symptomatic treatment.

I would be intereted to know if
you also have a sore throat?
Do you have sinusitis? Or history of it?
Is there any history of allergies?

Presently I would suggest you to

1. Drink plenty of water, especially warm, drink at regular intervals.
2. Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil 3 to four times a day.
3. Wash your face with warm water in night before going to bed and gently blow your nose.
4. Take over the counter oral antihistamine like ceterizine.
5. Drinking warm water with honey may also help soothe a sore throat. You can also try lozenges like strepsils and cofsils which will also be helpful.

Try this measures you should be fine.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

Hope this helps.
Take care
