Brief Answer:
Knee replacement vs conservative therapy

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing severe knee pain. It sounds like you have arthritis of the knee and that your surgeon is recommending knee replacement. The other options are to live with the pain, try steroid or synvisc injections.

Alternative medical options include acupuncture and medical marijuana. These all have drawbacks and are not well studies but may prevent you from having to have a knee replacement.

Otherwise with severe arthritis of the knee replacement is the only option. Rehab is lengthy and painful but usually there are good results.

It is up to you what you want to do. I would also recommend talking very openly and honestly with your surgeon and if they are not willing to talk with you then find someone who will listen

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
