Suggest Treatment For Severe Headaches

Question: eHi, I believe my fontenelles did not close. I am a 25 yr old female and I have a soft spot on the top left side of my head... it does not trouble me too much. I have a sunken in triangle shaped spot on the very back of my head and the bone of the skull anterior (midline skull at the back) is very sensitive, hurts and often get headaches associated in that area. I had a scan done when I was 13 or 14 for the soft spot on the left side of my head and the doctor said it was the fontenelle that did not close up. At the back right side of the head (near the mandible bone I think) it is very painful when touched and I can feel something like a ball shaped thing on the area. I have had a calcium deposit taken out that was on the top of head on the right side, so I think it may be that but not certain. My main concern is that at the back of my head on that bone it aches, and sometimes I feel unfocussed and my vision can be a little unfocussed. Other than that I am quite fit and healthy. Could you please give me advice on what it may be and who I should go to get it checked. Thank you. - XXXX

Brief Answer:
Neurosurgeon's opinion/CT scan Head.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

It is extremely rare for fontanelles not getting closed till adulthood. However, some cases have been there. On the other hand,it may be some soft cystic lesion too. But,your headache can't be labelled just like that due to it.
I suggest you to get physically examined by a Neurosurgeon for the soft spot.Along with, please get a Contrast CT scan of Head(along with CT scan bone window to see for gaping in the skull bones) to see if any intracranial pathology is contributing towards your headache.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to answer.

Dr.Ajay Panwar,
