Suggest Treatment For Sensitive Upper Left Tooth

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Jan 2015
Question: Hi my upper back left tooth is feeling a bit sensitive. It can feel some sensation around the tooth but is not painful. It is sensitive to to touch and I am reluctant chew too much on the left side. I am not having problems with hold and cold. I recently had some tooth cleaning and had gingivitis in that area of my teeth. The gums were red and puffy. I am not sure whether the cleaning has inflamed the tooth more or I have a gum infection. I do feel a bit of inflammation and discharge coming from my gums. I am taking colgate savacol twice daily which helps for a while. I am bit concerned that it could be a cracked tooth and I am developing an abcess. Please advise thanks

Brief Answer:
not related to cracked tooth!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello.First of all thanks for approaching Healthcaremagic for your query.I read through your query and accordingly I must say that there is nothing to be worried in this.It can be a simple gingival abscess due to trauma while scaling or some food debris stuck in the gingival sulcus. It cant be a cracked tooth as cracked tooth may cause pain after release of the bite(since you dont experience any pain it cant be ctacked tooth).I also suggest you to get checked whether your gingiva is receding as receding gingiva can cause sensitivity due to exposure of the cemental line.I suggest you to follow these steps
1)brush twice regularly with sensodyne toothpaste(antisensitivity)
2)do triclosan mouth rinse(good for gum health)
3)do warm salt water gargle(to reduce any infection if at all present)
4)drink lots and lots of water(universal medicine)
5)eat lots of citrus fruits(good for gingival healing)
Follow these steps for a week or two.I am sure you will be fine with this.If still it persists get an xray of the tooth and meet your dentist and see for any dental caries and pathology beneath the root.Be cool and stay happy.Stressfree mind and happy smiling face with calm attitude can be best medicine for any disease.Hope you are benefitted something from this reply. If you have more queries please be free to ask as we are waiting to help solve your problems.Have a healthy day!!!
