Suggest Treatment For Schizophrenia

Question: I have a close friend who suffers from Schizophrenia. Since they were taken from semi-care to having their own place, they've not been acting so normal. We'd meet every week as a near guarantee. But, at the moment he can go missing for weeks. For example, our last contact was before Christmas, and he tried ringing once and I called back the day later and can't communicate since. He has also do some weird stuff, such as having a tattoo on his face saying Lucifer and a picture of Jesus.
He’s fallen out with his step mother and father, attacked his girlfriend (who also has the same condition) in reply to her stabbing him with an object. I doubt he is having his medication. In his pictures he’s uploaded to his social media, he looks like a monster is how I can describe it – as though he’s on drugs, which I suspect he is, certainly weed, but maybe other things.
As a close friend I miss not been able to socialise with him, as I struggle with anxiety myself so it’s a nice time to get out and enjoy with, but it’s very hard and making me annoyed with the repeated un-contractility.
What do you advise I do in this situation, and could he be dangerous in this type of mentality?

Brief Answer:
He might become harmful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. Schizophrenia is a chronic psychotic disorder which runs a continuous course. The symptoms of Schizophrenia can be controlled but can't be treated completely. So in simple term I can say treatment is available but no cure is there. Continuous medicinal treatment is must for a schizophrenic patient. This is a bitter truth.

If he is suffering from Paranoid schizophrenia and is not on any regular treatment then he might become dangerous to anyone. He might harm himself or others without even provocation. So if you have contact with him and want to do something then best is to ask him for psychiatric evaluation and treatment. With proper treatment his symptoms should reduce.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Take care
