Suggest Treatment For Redness With Streaks On The Arm

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: what is the difference between clindamycin and cephalexin as an antibiotic to reduce bacteria count in skin conditions . I have an unused cephalexin 500mg/dose prescription since aug 2015. redness on the right arm and streaks around the right arm shoulder area. in understand that the lymph system is unable to reduce the bacteria count fast enough. tea tree has been used every 6 hours and appears to control and eliminate the streaks after 4 to 6 hours. my body temp stays at 97.5 to 98.6 over a 24 hour period.
condition started Monday after noon on the right arm while sitting in a car. immediately tea tree application started every 6 hours. in know in need to get a blood test and a urine test soon. I understand the danger of bacteria spreading into the blood. I have had no symptoms at all since aug 2015 treatment from a event at my right ankle a black widow enzyme caused cellitis and limphodema at the area .it was healed during july 4 to sept 2015 period.i became less cautious the last 3 months and sometimes had 5 cookies or 8 oz of low fat icecream which may have stimulated the condition in may arm but not my right ankle. please comment if I can use the cephalexin 500mg/6hours until I go to dr neuman on Monday pm . I must make an appointment and travel sunday from san XXXXXXX . is a lab open sunday in san XXXXXXX to get a urine analaysis, blood test. ? a culture would hopefully define the bacteria. last year scrips didn't wait for more than 3 days for test results and never got a report on which bacteria was present in july 2015.i switched from 5 different iv delivered antibiotics to tea tree after 12 days of iv and healed . the cephalexin 500mg/6 hour dose caused blood indications so I stopped using it to avoid all the side effects . tea tree has no side effects that I am aware of ,my right ankle healed. brahm segal san XXXXXXX I appreciate any of your guidance 310-505-2137 XXXXXXX YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
You can take Cephalexin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The redness on the right arm with streaks can be due to an infection. You can have cephalexin twice a day till then and see if it helps. Continue using tea tree oil too. Clindamycin is a better choice for akin infections but the best way is to get a blood and urine test and culture done to find out the antibiotic most suitable for you.
I hope this answers your query.

how can I reach you specifically or do I get a different doctor each time I call? is there a description that defines the spectrum or type of bacteria covered by the cephalexin or clindamycin?
the prescription was 500mg 4 times a day for 7 days ,can you recommend a lab that will process my urine sample in west los angeles90035 area
how many days after the culture is provided to get accurate results of the bacteria? is it 7 days? In the mean time I can take the cephalexin . how much more spectrum does the clindamycin cover? should I switch as soon as possible or does it matter? in july 2015 I learned that the choice of antibiotic is a guess until a correct result from the culture is obtained. Scripps hospital said they could not get results after 3 days of the culture test period.they changed iv 5 times without a good result. from clindamycin/xancef/zyvox/zosln/clindamycin/cefepin between july 1st to august 8th
I lost confidence in the quality of understanding and they never got a culture report about the bacteria type.the blood test red/white cell count info was improved.I insisted on leaving the hospital for financial reasons , continued with an oral antibiotic .I think it was cepefin for 10 days ,don't have info on it now.
When I took Cephalexin for 2 doses of 500mg I saw bleeding so I stopped and just used tea tree.
Is the culture result effected by the antibiotic? Is the oral antibiotic much less effective than iv with a 1000ml supply of water?
when I
I left the hospital

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can directly contact me through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal . Both cephalexin and clindamycin are effective against skin infections which are more commonly caused by gram positive cocci. But resistance against clindamycin is less common. I cannot order any tests online form here. You will have check yourself about the nearest lab who is willing to do the cultures. It is best to wait till 7 days for any culture to grow in the sample.
If you start with cephalexin then it can alter the culture results. For best result do start with the medicine after the culture report. The iv antibiotic starts an immediate effect while the oral one make take a few doses to show proper effect.
