Question: Hi, I am a male, age 61. I am on business travel. I woke up this morning with redness and swelling around one of my breasts. It is also tender. What is wrong?

Hi,

I understand your concerns about redness and swelling in breast.

This sudden redness and swelling is due to temporary allergic reaction to the breast area caused by an unknown allergen. This allergen could be dust, insect, etc...

This is temporary and will go away by itself and there is no need to panic.

If it's hurting you, take a cetrazine hydrochloride tablet available over the counter to reduce symptoms. It might take about a week for it to go away.

Should I limit my physical activity like working out at the gym? What is the common name for cetrazine hydrochloride tablets? There is a little lump on the top of the breast, is this normal?

Brand name of cetrazine commonly used are zyrtec.

You can check if different brands are available over the counter.
