Suggest Treatment For Reddish Brown Spots On The Left Ankle

Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: Hello Doctor! I am 22 years old girl, three four years back I found two tiny reddish-brown spots on my left ankle and now it is gradually spreading on my skin (i.e. on left ankle). Now that patch becomes rough, itchy and slightly raised. Now I got two new tiny reddish-brown spots on my right ankle too. I consulted a dermatologist, but she said she couldn't diagnose the problem. She prescribed me to use Lobate GM. Doctor could you please tell me what it could be.

Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and need to ask you few questions:
Are these spots itchy?
Do you have personal or family history of dry skin, asthma or allergic rhinitis or sinusitis?
Do you have history of varicose veins?
Do you stand for long hours?
Kindly revert back with the answers.

Hello Doctor

Yeah, last week for the first time the spots on my right ankle were itchy. I applied moist on the skin, now I don't have any itching problem.
My mom has psoriasis.
I don't have varicose veins.
I don't stand for long hours.

I am expecting a positive reply from you.

Brief Answer:
Either eczematous dermatitis or pigmented purpuric dermatosis

Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints it seems to be either eczematous dermatitis or pigmented purpuric dermatosis.
In such cases I usually recommend my patients to use steroid cream like plain clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas once daily along with a moisturising cream twice daily for 2-3 weeks.

I have few doubts.
Is it a curable disease?
Will it spread to other parts of my body?
I use palmolive shower gel for my body. Do I need to change it?

Brief Answer:
It is a curable disease though it can involve other parts of the body

Detailed Answer:
Yes it is a curable disease but it can involve other parts of the body as well.
You can continue with palmolive shower gel but do use a moosturising cream after bath.
