Suggest Treatment For Recurring Lump In The Vaginal Area

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: I have 2 recurring lumps on the left wall of my vagina. One is closer to my clit and it has a round feel to it and the other is down closer to my vaginal entrance and it has an elongated feel to it. They are not too hard, I am able to squeeze them a little but it hurts. You can't see it. You can only feel it when you're touching it which hurts. Sometimes they appear immediately after sex. After a few days it goes away on it's own. No burning while i urinate. Just a little pain when I touch it.

Brief Answer:
Bartholin gland cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
what you are experiencing in the lateral vaginal wall are BARTHOLIN CYSTs which is basically collection in the bartholin gland which is responsible for vaginal lubrication during intercourse.
So if asymptomatic , this can be left alone, but if it causes pain and difficulty during sex then it can be surgically marsupirlized and the collection drained to remove the fluid.
This is a benign cyst and can be even dealt conservatively. You may get a local examination done by your gynaecologist to confirm the diagnosis and discuss the options with him and take an informed decision.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The most common cause is infection and second cause being blockage of the bartholin gland's ductal opening at vestibule, hence secretions tend to get collected within the gland and causes the swelling.
You may get it confirmed first with a per vaginal examination.
