Question: Hi! Im 26y/o and Ive been taking cyproterone - ethinyl estradiol, with no Doctors prescription I took it for my acne, my acne was gone with regular use of this drug. But Ive been taking it for a long time now and im afraid it would affect my health if I continue taking it. I wanted to stop and I tried to but the acne came back just after a month or two of not taking the pill. What could be the best option for me?

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle changes are the best for long term acne control.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I feel that the hormonal combination that you are taking can have adverse and unwanted effects on your health in the long term. What we want is a long term medication for acne removal and control as it is recurrent. Thus I would ask you to try clindamycin ointment to erase any infections if there. You might try benzoyl peroxide too for acute flareups. However, the main stay in treatment requires that you use lifestyle changes and a diet that is low on fats and oils and particularly rich in antioxidants, such as greens. Acne flareups have an initimate linkage with stress. You can lower your stress levels, and see your skin glow for the good.
